Parents and caregivers play a vital role in shaping children’s outcomes. We acknowledge and support their dedication to early development and education, prioritising collaboration with families. By engaging parents in their children’s education and providing guidance, support, and activity ideas, we help ensure that children get the best possible start.
Working together allows us to understand each child’s unique needs better. Regular, open communication is essential for meeting the needs of every child and family.
We connect with parents through various methods, including conversations during drop-off and pick-up, our online platform Famly for sharing photos, videos, and important updates, monthly newsletters, and at least two parent meetings each year. We also host parent events and training sessions. Hearing your feedback is equally important. Through Famly, you can share your own photos and videos, and by keeping us informed about any changes in your child’s interests, development, or life outside of nursery, we can tailor activities that cater to each child’s individual needs.
Babies and children develop attachments to significant adults through reliable, respectful, warm, and loving relationships, which are crucial for their growth. They experience wellbeing and happiness when their physical and emotional needs are met, and their feelings are validated. Our key person approach mirrors family dynamics, ensuring these essential conditions are met. Early experiences of love and attachment provide lifelong advantages.
Each child will be assigned a designated key person before starting at the nursery, and this support will continue as they move through different age groups. When children transition to a new room, the key person will change, but there will be a thorough handover of information to maintain continuity of care. The key person helps children feel known, understood, valued, and safe, fostering confidence that they are thought about and loved. This experience of being cared for by attentive, playful, and affectionate adults enables children to form secure attachments. Such a strong foundation provides a “secure base” from which children can confidently explore the world and build other relationships.
